Care Guide

To help you enjoy your Chipiques pieces as if they were new for as long as possible, we have put together general care advice by material. The care instructions on the product label and in the product description always take priority; the advice below is for general information only.

Tulle and Tutu Skirts

The descriptions of many of our tutu skirts state that they should not be machine washed, should be dry cleaned only and should not be ironed; please follow these instructions for these products. To keep the tulle full and fluffy, store the skirt unfolded, on a hanger or in a spacious place. Gently dabbing small stains with a damp cloth is usually enough; do not rub or wring the tulle.

Felt Products (Felt Hair Clips, Headbands, Organisers)

Felt can lose its shape when it comes into contact with water. Rather than washing felt products, we recommend wiping them with a slightly damp cloth if needed and leaving them to dry naturally. Keep them away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

Velvet Products

Storing velvet bows and hair clips without crushing them protects the direction of the pile. When they get dusty, you can brush them lightly in the direction of the pile with a soft brush. We recommend not getting velvet wet and not ironing it directly.

Embroidered, Beaded and Sequinned Products

Handmade embroidery, bead and sequin details are delicate. If the label allows, turn the item inside out and wash it gently by hand without wringing; otherwise, clean only the stained area with a damp cloth. Store beaded and sequinned items away from things with zips or hook-and-loop fasteners that could snag them.

Cotton and Muslin Clothing

For cotton and muslin products, follow the temperature and washing instructions in the product description. As a general tip, washing with similar colours and without bleach helps keep colours vibrant.

Beanies and Rib-Knit Products

For beanies and rib-knit products, pay attention to the washing temperature stated in the description. For pompom styles, we recommend drying the item flat without wringing to keep the pompom's shape.

Jewellery

We recommend keeping beaded bracelets, necklaces and anklets away from water, perfume and creams, and not overstretching elastic bracelets. As they may contain small parts, young children should wear jewellery under adult supervision.

Storing Hair Accessories

Hair clips, bows and headbands keep their shape longer when stored neatly. To store headbands without bending them and bows without crushing them, you can use our Felt Hair Clip Organiser.
